Attoswitch at 2-day Workshop on “Advanced (2D) materials and their applications" held in Aachen on February 17th-18th, 2025!
The public workshop “Novel (2D) Materials and Their Applications”, co-organized by AMO GmbH, RWTH Aachen University, and the Aachen Graphene & 2D Materials Center, in collaboration with the EU projects 2D-ENGINE, 2D-Pilot Line, AttoSwitch, and FOXES, took place on February 17–18, 2025 in Aachen — and proved to be a great success.
With a lunch-to-lunch format, the event brought together 120 in-person attendees and 127 remote participants for a hybrid session, creating a unique platform for scientific exchange and networking in the field of novel 2D materials, including those beyond graphene, such as synthetic 2D compounds, perovskites, and thin-film oxides.
Highlights of the event included:
- Talks from 25 expert speakers representing leading research institutions and EU projects
- A vibrant poster session and dinner, fostering discussion among early-career researchers
- A well-attended hybrid session on advanced characterization techniques, co-hosted with Chalmers University of Technology
Thanks to support from European projects and Oxford Instruments, the workshop was free of charge, making it especially accessible to students and young researchers. Feedback from participants praised the high quality of talks, the welcoming atmosphere, and the valuable networking opportunities.
The workshop took place at RWTH Aachen University’s SuperC building, and showcased the growing momentum and collaboration within Europe’s 2D materials community, as part of the broader Graphene Flagship initiative.
